The Cross Country Olympic (XCO) racing format is the classic mountain biking racing discipline. It is how it all started. An XCO race has a mass start, with all riders starting together, and goes along a loop with between 4-6 km. The number of times that racers go around the track is repeated (that is, number of laps) is based on the category of the race.
Each year, XCO race courses become more and more technical. With input from experts in MTB trail design, MTB Egypt Egypt has designed an XCO course that is consistent with the trend of designing challenging off-road race courses. Featuring steep climbs, fast downhill sections and technical rock gardens, the race course will offer a challenge to all racers.
The XCO track in the Wadi Degla Protectorate 4.2kmm long, the start and finish is a short distance from the main entrance to the protectorate. Spectators will be able to watch more than a third of the the full loop including the the newly built double drop technical section.
